This 10-day Rwanda Wildlife Safari with Uganda Gorilla Trekking combines wildlife viewing, chimpanzee tracking, cultural experiences in Rwanda, and mountain gorilla encounters.
You explore Akagera National Park’s savannah plains for wildlife viewing before tracking chimpanzees in Nyungwe National Park’s dense forests.
The itinerary includes a visit to Ibyacu Cultural Village in Kinigi, Musanze, where you experience Rwanda’s rich cultural heritage through local interactions and traditional customs.
The safari then crosses into Uganda, the Pearl of Africa, for gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and encounters with mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.

Itinerary
The company guide warmly welcomes you upon arrival at Kigali International Airport and transfers you to your pre-booked hotel in Kigali.
Along the way, enjoy Kigali’s scenic landscapes and vibrant city life as you begin your Rwandan adventure.
Meal Plan: Dinner
After an early breakfast, you travel for 2–3 hours to Akagera National Park, enjoying scenic views of the surrounding hills and undulating plains along the way.
Upon arrival, enjoy a game drive through Akagera’s savannah plains, where you may encounter elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, lions, leopards, monkeys, and diverse bird species.
In the afternoon, take a shared boat trip on Lake Ihema to see hippos, crocodiles, and diverse waterbirds, including African fish eagles and pied kingfishers.

In the morning, enjoy another game drive in Akagera National Park, exploring its savannah plains and discovering more of the park’s diverse wildlife.
After the game drive, travel for approximately 2.5 hours to Kigali for a city tour, including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, which honors the victims of the 1994 Genocide.

After breakfast, travel from Kigali to Nyungwe National Park, enjoying scenic views along the way. En route, visit the Royal Palace Museum in Huye to learn about Rwanda’s history, culture, and traditions.
After lunch, resume your journey to Nyungwe. Upon arrival, spend the evening relaxing at the lodge and enjoying the peaceful forest surroundings.

After an early breakfast, drive to the briefing centre for a ranger briefing before trekking through Nyungwe Forest in search of chimpanzees.
Once you locate the chimpanzees, spend one hour observing them. As you walk back, you may also encounter other primates and bird species.
After the chimpanzee trek, return to the lodge for lunch and a few hours of relaxation.
In the afternoon, drive to Uwinka Visitors’ Centre for a 3:00 PM canopy walk, enjoying panoramic views of Nyungwe Forest and its surrounding landscape.

After breakfast, embark on a 4-hour drive from Nyungwe National Park to Lake Kivu (Gisenyi), enjoying scenic views of Rwanda’s hilly terrain and stunning Lake Kivu islands along the way.
Upon arrival, have lunch and relax at the lodge. Optional activities are available on or near Lake Kivu, including fishing, boat rides, kayaking, nature walks, and coffee plantation tours (not included).

Check out of the lodge and drive for about 2 hours to Musanze for a cultural experience at Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, located near Volcanoes National Park.
At the cultural village, experience Rwanda’s culture and traditions through demonstrations, storytelling, traditional performances, and hands-on activities that offer insight into daily life.
Note: If time permits, you can enjoy any of the optional activities available in and around Musanze after the Iby’Iwacu cultural experience (not included). These include biking, cycling, and guided community walks.

Today, cross into Uganda after seven days of exploring Rwanda and travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to a significant population of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.
Upon arrival, relax at the lodge or enjoy an optional community walk around nearby homesteads (not included), offering insight into local daily life and traditions.

After an early breakfast, drive to the collection centre for the 8:00 AM briefing. You are then assigned a habituated gorilla family before trekking through Bwindi’s steep, densely forested slopes in search of the gorillas.
Once you locate the gorillas, spend one hour observing them and taking photos as they go about their daily activities before returning to the lodge to relax.

Your 10-day safari concludes with a 5-6-hour drive from Bwindi to the airport in Kigali, enjoying scenic views of Rwanda’s undulating hills and countryside along the way.
Note: This 10-day safari can also end in Entebbe, Uganda. Schedule your departure flight between 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM to allow for the 9–10-hour drive from Bwindi to Entebbe.
