Visa Information
1. ACQUIRING UGANDAN VISA
Single entry/ Tourist Visa
All persons planning to travel to Uganda from non-visa-exempt countries for tourism, holidays, business, or seeking medical care must apply for and obtain a visa.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs, through the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control, issues the Ugandan visa, which you can obtain online by visiting this link.
We recommend applying for the Ugandan visa at least two months before the entry date, as the approval process typically takes three working days. Upon approval, the visa becomes valid for 90 days from the date of issue.

Application for a Ugandan visa requires applicants to submit mandatory documents; information about these documents is available at https://visas.immigration.go.ug/#/help/visa.
East African Tourist Visa
This multiple-entry visa is a joint tourist visa that allows travelers from any country to visit the three neighboring nations of Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya for tourism purposes.
Applicants for the East African Tourist Visa should note that entry into the region must begin with the country that issued the visa.
Visa cost
The East African Tourist Visa costs 100 USD, while the Uganda Ordinary/Tourist Single Entry Visa costs 50 USD. Please note that you must pay for visa applications online, subject to a 3% surcharge fee.
Passport Validity
An applicant for a Ugandan visa must possess a genuine passport with a minimum validity of at least 6 months from the intended entrance date into the country. The passport should have at least two blank visa pages for immigration stamps.
2. ACQUIRING RWANDAN VISA
Anyone planning to travel to Rwanda from visa-exempt countries must apply for an entry visa online or in person upon arrival. The Visa application services upon arrival are available at Kigali International Airport and all land borders, and this service is provided by the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration (DGIE).
Passport Validity
To apply for a Rwandan visa, you must hold a valid passport with a minimum validity of six months from your intended entrance date into Rwanda. Your passport should have at least two blank visa pages for immigration stamps.
Mandatory documents
Applicants for a Rwandan visa are required to submit scanned copies of mandatory documents that include;
· The bio-data page of the passport in PDF format and should not exceed 500KB.
· A valid yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for travelers from countries classified as yellow fever endemic zones or those experiencing active yellow fever outbreaks.
· One recent passport-sized photograph with a white background, JPG/JPEG format, and file size of 500KB or less
· An application letter in PDF format that does not exceed 500 KB

Upon successful submission and payment through IremboGov, the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration will send an email confirmation acknowledging receipt of your application. Visa processing typically requires 3-7 business days, after which you will receive notification of your application status via the same email address.
