East African Tourist Visa

The East African Tourist Visa is a multiple-entry visa that allows eligible travellers to visit Uganda, Rwanda, and Kenya for tourism using a single visa.

The visa costs USD 100, excluding any applicable processing charges, and must be obtained from the country where you first enter the region.

Uganda Visa Requirements

Uganda Tourist Visa

Travellers from countries that are not visa-exempt must obtain a visa before entering Uganda for tourism, holidays, business, or medical purposes.

Uganda visas are issued by the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC) under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and are applied for online.

Uganda Visa Application and Processing

Travellers are encouraged to apply for their Uganda visa well before their planned arrival. Visa applications typically take three to five working days to process, and an approved visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issue.

Uganda Tourist Visa Documents

When applying for a Uganda Tourist Visa, travellers should prepare:

  • A copy of the passport bio-data page
  • A recent passport-sized photograph
  • A travel itinerary or booking confirmation
  • Proof of accommodation, such as a hotel booking and address where applicable
  • A valid yellow fever vaccination certificate

Passport Requirements for a Uganda Visa

Travellers must have a valid passport with at least six months’ validity from the intended date of entry into Uganda and at least two blank pages for immigration stamps.

Uganda Visa Fees

The Uganda Ordinary/Tourist Single Entry Visa costs USD 50. Visa applications are submitted and paid for online and are subject to a 3% surcharge.

Rwanda Visa Requirements

Rwanda Tourist Visa

Travellers who are not visa-exempt can apply for a Rwanda visa online or upon arrival at Kigali International Airport and the country’s land border entry points.

Rwanda Tourist Visa Documents

When applying for a Rwanda Tourist Visa, travellers should prepare:

  • A scanned passport bio-data page in PDF format, not exceeding 500 KB.
  • A recent passport-sized photograph with a white background in JPG/JPEG format, not exceeding 500 KB.
  • An application letter in PDF format, not exceeding 500 KB.
  • A valid yellow fever vaccination certificate for travellers arriving from countries classified as yellow-fever-endemic or experiencing an active yellow fever outbreak.

Travellers must have a valid passport with at least six months’ validity from the intended date of entry into Rwanda and at least two blank pages for immigration stamps.

The Rwanda Tourist Visa costs USD 50, with a 3% online payment surcharge through IremboGov. Visa applications typically take 3–7 business days to process, with status updates sent by email.
