This comprehensive 14-day safari offers an immersive journey through several regions of Uganda- Eastern, Northern, Northeastern, Western, and Southwestern. Each area boasts unique natural wonders, ensuring authentic travel experiences throughout your adventure.

Your tour begins in Kapchorwa district, nestled in the eastern highlands. This breathtaking region features rolling hills, the spectacular Sipi Falls, and vast coffee and banana plantations that paint a vibrant agricultural landscape.

The trip continues into the arid, rough, and isolated Karamoja region of northeastern Uganda, where you will have the chance to engage in the various cultural experiences of the Karamojong people and encounter the pristine wilderness of Kidepo Valley National Park.

The safari proceeds southward to Murchison Falls National Park, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Kibale National Park for wildlife viewing experiences.

The safari continues to become fascinating with a gorilla-tracking adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Located in southwestern Uganda, Bwindi Forest is home to over half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas and offers a 95% probability of encountering these gentle giants.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Uganda and transfer to the hotel/lodge

Upon arrival in Uganda and after clearance with Immigration, the company driver/guide will warmly welcome you into the country and immediately transfer you to your reserved accommodation in Entebbe town.

Day 2: Travel to Eastern Uganda-Kapchorwa

Following a restful night in Entebbe town, you will have an early breakfast and immediately embark on a 6-hour drive to Kapchorwa district. The route through Eastern Uganda offers a variety of captivating sights, including the Mabira rain forest, vast tea and sugar plantations, and vibrant roadside markets, which will make your journey more enjoyable.

Once you arrive, you will start your exploration of the area with the Sipi Falls hike, an exceptional and thrilling adventure. The Sipi Falls, primarily consisting of three waterfalls, are situated along the course of the Sipi River. The Sipi Falls hike spans 7-8 km and typically takes around 3-4 hours, leading you through various local farms, hills, valleys, and other captivating landscapes. During the Sipi hike, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the falls and other features and also have an opportunity to interact with the local people.

In addition to the Sipi hike, there are other optional activities to enjoy while visiting the Kapchorwa region, including a coffee tour. Consequently, if you opt to participate in a coffee tour, you will have the opportunity to gain extensive knowledge about coffee growing. The coffee tour provides guests with in-depth knowledge about coffee farming, including planting, harvesting, drying, and roasting.

Day 3: Travel to Moroto for a cultural interaction with the Karamojong

You will begin your day with an early breakfast before setting out on a scenic five-hour journey to Moroto, the largest urban center in northeastern Uganda and home to the pastoral Karamojong community. Along the way, you will travel through the scenic Pian Upe Game Reserve, renowned for its rich biodiversity and captivating wildlife.

Upon arriving in Moroto, you will immerse yourself in the rich culture of the Karamojong people through a visit to one of their traditional homesteads. Here, you will meet local elders and engage in meaningful interactions as they introduce you to their way of life. You will explore their kraals, observe traditional grinding stones, and discover other fascinating artifacts integral to their daily lives. The Karamojong people remain deeply connected to their heritage, as reflected in their unwavering love and protection of their cattle, their distinctive attire, and the unique design of their homes. This experience will offer you an authentic glimpse into their enduring traditions and values.

Drive time from Sipi to Moroto through the Pian Upe game reserve is about 4 hours.

Day 4: Travel to Kidepo Valley National Park

After breakfast, you embark on a five-hour adventure drive to Kidepo Valley National Park, which is the most secluded and remote area in Uganda. The route passes through spectacular landscapes of rugged hills, sweeping savannah plains, and colorful local homesteads that showcase the region's distinctive character. This scenic journey allows you to experience the unspoiled natural beauty and authentic village setup of northeastern Uganda.

After reaching Kidepo, spend the rest of the day relaxing at your lodge while enjoying the panoramic views of the park's untouched wilderness.

Day 5: Explore Kidepo Valley National Park

This day is exclusive to exploring the unspoiled wilderness of Kidepo Valley National Park through exhilarating morning and afternoon game drives. As you traverse the park’s trails, you will encounter a remarkable array of wildlife, including giraffes, numerous antelope and gazelle species, African elephants, and herds of buffalo. You may also catch sight of predators like lions and rare species endemic to the park, such as cheetahs and striped hyenas, making this an unforgettable wildlife experience.

Day 6: Travel to Murchison Falls National Park

After exploring the wonders of eastern and northeastern Uganda, you will begin a 7-hour road journey to Murchison Falls National Park, passing through Gulu City, the largest town in the northern part of the country. Along the way, enjoy captivating views of the flat terrain with striking inselbergs and traditional Acholi homesteads, providing a glimpse into the cultural and natural beauty of the northern region.

Upon your arrival, you will have the rest of the day to unwind at your lodge while enjoying breathtaking views of the surroundings.

Day 7: Exploration of Murchison Falls National Park

Today, you will explore Uganda's largest and most varied national park, Murchison Falls National Park. After an early morning breakfast, you will enter the park and take a game drive on the northern sector's plains. While on the game drive, you can witness an astounding diversity of creatures. You will be able to see a wide variety of animals, such as warthogs, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, patas monkeys, and many antelope species, such as Uganda kobs, bushbucks, Jackson's Hartebeests, Oribi, and waterbucks. During the game drives, you can occasionally spot other species like lions, hyenas, and leopards in the park. For those interested in birds, Murchison Falls National Park is home to numerous bird species, including the Secretary Bird and Black-chested Snake, among others.

At 14:00, you will embark on a three-hour shared boat trip on the Victoria Nile, which will take you to the base of the Murchison Falls. As you sail along, you will encounter a variety of water-adapted creatures, including crocodiles, hippos, and other mammals that congregate along riverbanks to drink water and possibly escape the intense heat.

You will return to the lodge for relaxation and an overnight stay following the boat excursion. As you travel to the lodge, you can see numerous animals, such as buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, and different species of antelopes.

Day 8: Rhino tracking at Ziwa rhino sanctuary and overnight stay in Hoima

Early in the morning, you will depart from Murchison Falls National Park and drive for approximately 3 hours to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in the Nakasongola district, Central Uganda. Upon arrival at the rhino sanctuary, you will enjoy 1-2 hours of a walking safari within the Sanctuary tracking white rhinos. The Sanctuary is home to more than 30 white rhinos, along with other wildlife species, including over 300 species of birds. Enjoy an extraordinary wildlife viewing experience with this tour that provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see these endangered creatures.

After returning from the tracking adventure, you will have lunch and then travel to Hoima for your overnight stay.

Day 9: Travel to Kibale National Park with evening Bigodi community walk

You begin the day with an early morning breakfast and then embark on the exciting road trip to Kibale Forest in the Kabarole district of Western Uganda. Along the journey, you will have some stopovers to enjoy captivating, beautiful views of undulating hills with green vegetation and sprawling tea plantations. Similarly, the road to Kibale goes through various small towns and villages, offering an overview of the upcountry local setting.

In the evening, you will go for a guided walk (about 2 hours) through the Bigodi community. The walk through the Bigodi community neighborhood is fascinating because it allows you to take part in the rich local culture and get a personal glimpse into the locals' everyday lives. During the community walk, you will learn how to make the local brew, meet a traditional doctor (healer) who will gladly share knowledge about spirits and herbs, and visit one of the homesteads to observe the preparation of some local meals. This insightful expedition provides an exclusive opportunity to connect with the community's core values, fostering an in-depth appreciation for their unique social lifestyle.

The drive time from Hoima to Kibale National Park is about 5 hours.

Day 10: Chimpanzee tracking and then drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you will have a short drive to the Kibale Forest briefing center, where professional park rangers will take you through the guidelines and procedures regarding chimpanzee tracking. After a briefing session, you will head to the forest (by foot) to embark on the thrilling experience of tracking the habituated chimpanzees. Chimpanzees are the closest cousins to humans, sharing a DNA composition that is 98.7% similar to that of humans. During the tracking experience, you will have the opportunity to observe the fascinating characteristics of chimpanzees. They can gather water from empty pods, crush nuts with stones, and catch termites in their tunnels with sticks.

In addition to chimpanzees, the forest is home to numerous bird species and other primates species, such as Mangabey and Colobus monkeys, which you may observe during the tracking experience.

After a fruitful chimpanzee tracking experience, you will return to the lodge for a hot lunch. Following a delicious meal, you will embark on a 2-hour’ drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 11: Morning game drive and travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park today with a morning game drive over the Kasenyi Plains. The Park boasts an array of animal and avian species found in the northern region of Queen Elizabeth National Park. During the game-viewing expedition, you will see a variety of species, such as antelopes (waterbucks, Uganda kobs, and bushbucks), elephants, buffaloes, lions, and warthogs, among others.

Right after your successful exploration of Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will proceed to Bwindi for the main highlight of the safari-gorilla tracking. Bwindi Forest boasts tremendous biodiversity and is home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Day 12: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Following an early morning breakfast, you will take a short drive to the briefing center in time for the 8:00 am start of the briefing. Experienced Park rangers conduct the briefing exercise to provide guidelines and rules to the tracking participants. Following the briefing, a specific habituated gorilla family will be assigned to you, with the other 7 participants, to embark on an exciting trekking expedition through steep and heavily forested slopes until you eventually locate the gorillas within the dense forest.

Once you locate the gorillas, you will only have an hour to spend with them, during which time you can take photos and watch them go about their daily lives.

After the gorilla trekking experience, you will return to the lodge for relaxation and an overnight stay.

Day 13: Travel to Lake Mburo National Park

After a thrilling gorilla tracking experience, you will travel to Lake Mburo National Park, a hidden gem renowned for its stunning landscape and an array of wildlife. After having lunch in Mbarara city, you will embark on the journey to the park, arriving late in the afternoon.

You will embark on a walking safari when you get to the park. Lake Mburo National Park is the only protected area in Uganda where guided walking safaris are permitted. During the 3-hour nature walk, you will have a close encounter with several species of animals and birds. On the walking safari, you can see antelopes (impalas, waterbucks, topis, elands, oribis, and bushbucks), giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, warthogs, and other animals up close.

Day 14: Visit the Bahima Homestead and travel to Entebbe Airport

In the morning, you will socially interact with the Bahima (pastoralists) and actively participate in herding the Ankole cows (long-horned cattle). Participating in Ankole cow herding gives you a hands-on opportunity to learn about cattle management, a tradition passed down through generations. Under the guidance of experienced local herders, you will learn the various methods of leading and guiding the cows.

After completing your visit to the Bahima homestead, you will proceed to Entebbe Airport for your departure flight. Along the way, you will have a brief stopover at the Equator monument in Kayabwe to take photos and enjoy the extraordinary experiments that illustrate how the gravitational pull at the Equator line varies from that at other latitudes. The experiments show how water swirls in opposite directions on either side of the equator. Though not scientifically proven, these experiments will offer an entertaining and instructive experience while learning about the geographical importance of the equator line.
