Overview
We designed this "4-day Kigali city tour and gorilla tracking in Uganda" tour package for potential visitors who have long aspired to see mountain gorillas but are perpetually preoccupied with several engagements and unable to find time for lengthy safari adventures in Africa.
The tour begins with exploring Kigali City, where you will visit a few selected places of social, economic, and historical significance to the country. The Kigali Genocide Memorial is one of the places that you will explore during the city tour. With over 2500 victims of the 1994 genocide buried here, the Genocide Memorial functions as a museum and an educational base, providing a wealth of information and insights about Rwanda's political history.
The Kigali city tour will also include visiting the downtown marketplaces to get an overview of the vibrant working environment of the city dwellers, given the stable economic growth currently experienced.

Itinerary
We assume you will arrive in Kigali one day earlier or at the airport early in the morning. In light of this, your assigned company guide/driver will pick you up from the lodge, hotel, or Kigali airport and immediately embark on exploring the city of Kigali and visit a selection of places such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial, the Kigali Convention Center, Kimironko Market, Mount Kigali, and Kandt House.
As a result, the Kigali city tour will offer an excellent introduction to real African urban life and amazing insight into the political history and daily living styles of people in Kigali.
Meal Plan: Lunch & Dinner
After breakfast, you will embark on a 2-hour drive to Musanze to participate in a cultural experience at Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village. This cultural center is in the Musanze district of the northern region of Rwanda, close to Volcanoes National Park. At the Cultural Village, the community will warmly welcome you as a special guest, with presentations about their traditions and customs. You will interact with the local people in their local setting and participate in cultural and traditional customs that include day-to-day activities and artifacts.
After the cultural experiences at the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, you will travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. Bwindi Forest is home to half of the remaining mountain gorillas in the world, and as a result, tracking mountain gorillas in Uganda provides nearly 100% of spotting them.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
After an early breakfast, you will take a short drive to the collection center for the briefing exercise that begins at 8:00 a.m. The experienced park rangers conduct the briefing sessions with the express intent of providing the tracking participants with trekking guidelines and procedures. After briefing, you will be allocated to a specific habituated gorilla family with the other 7 participants. You will begin a thrilling trekking expedition through steep and heavily forested slopes until you eventually find the gorillas within the dense forest. Find the gorillas and spend an hour with them, taking photos and observing their daily lives.
After the gorilla trekking experience, you will return to the lodge for relaxation and an overnight stay.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Our "4-day Kigali city tour and gorilla tracking in Uganda" concludes today with a 4–5-hour road trip to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight. As you travel, you will be captivated by the magnificent views of the undulating terrain that defines Rwanda as the "country of a thousand hills."
