Itinerary
We assume you either arrived in Uganda one day earlier or will arrive at Entebbe airport early in the morning. In light of this, your assigned company guide will pick you up from the lodge, hotel, or Entebbe airport and immediately begin your journey to Murchison Falls National Park. You will make a few stopovers to enjoy the beauty of Uganda’s countryside and its natural treasures during your road trip to Murchison Falls National Park. Your first stop will be in Luwero town, where you will visit a thriving roadside market known for its abundance of fresh and organic fruits. Here, you will have the opportunity to taste some of the delicious, locally grown fruits, including ripe bananas and juicy pineapples.
After that, you continue driving until you reach Nakasongola district. Here, you will visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, a well-known protected area devoted to preserving the endangered white rhinos. These rhinos were reintroduced in Uganda in 2005. At the sanctuary, you will embark on a captivating 2-hour adventure of tracking rhinos by trekking through the sanctuary with an armed and experienced ranger. The tracking experience offers an opportunity to encounter these endangered mammals up close.
After a successful rhino tracking experience at Ziwa Sanctuary, you will embark on the road trip to Murchison Falls National Park. You will have breathtaking views of the diverse eco-systems as you drive through the park. You will go through savannah grasslands, woodland, and riverine forest.
Upon arrival at your reserved accommodation, you will check in, have dinner, and enjoy a quiet night in the wilderness.
Drive time from Entebbe to Murchison Falls National Park is about 7 hours.
Meal Plan: Lunch & Dinner
After an early breakfast, you’ll embark on an exciting game drive through the diverse ecosystems of Murchison Falls National Park, where you’ll encounter many species of animals and birds. As you navigate through the different trails, you’ll come across an array of animals, including elephants, warthogs, giraffes, buffaloes, and various antelope species. This experience will deepen your appreciation for the remarkable biodiversity of Uganda’s largest national park.
At 14:00, you will embark on a three-hour shared boat trip on the Victoria Nile, which will take you to the base of the Murchison Falls. Many species of water-adapted animals and birds, including crocodiles, hippos, and other mammals, congregate along riverbanks to drink water and possibly escape the intense heat that will be visible to you as you sail.
After arriving at the base of the falls, you climb (along the designated paths) for 30 to 40 minutes to reach the top and have a spectacular view of the falls. At the top of the falls, you enjoy the sight of water pouring through a 7-meter narrow gorge to create powerful, thunderous waterfalls.
Following your day's adventures, you'll drive back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
You’ll start with an early breakfast before beginning your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive takes about 8-9 hours, but the many fascinating sights along the route ensure it remains engaging and far from tedious. Your route will first take you through a part of Bugungu Reserve, where you’ll spot several playful baboons and monkeys along the roadside. The Butiaba Escarpment offers stunning views of the winding road and the shores of Lake Albert.
You’ll also have the chance to make brief stops at picturesque tea and banana plantations to enjoy the scenery and perhaps interact with the local farmers. These enriching experiences will make the journey as memorable as the destination itself.
After lunch in Fort Portal, you will continue your drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
You will depart for a game drive on the Kasenyi Plains after having an early breakfast. Home to numerous animal and bird species, the expansive and open savannah of Queen Elizabeth National Park's northern region is perfect for a game drive. The Park has well-designated trails that offer excellent opportunities for spotting several animals, including elephants, hippos, buffalo, and various species of antelopes.
After an exciting adventure in the Kasenyi plains, you will embark on a 2-hour drive to Lake Mburo National Park. This is a hidden gem renowned for its breathtaking scenery and fauna. After lunch in Mbarara City, drive to the park and arrive late in the afternoon.
Upon arriving, you will embark on a thrilling walking safari experience in the park. Lake Mburo National Park is the only protected area in Uganda that offers a guided walking safari. As you trek through the park, you will encounter the animals and birds up close. On the walking safari, you can see antelopes (impalas, waterbucks, topis, elands, oribis, and bushbucks), giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, warthogs, and other animals up close.

Early in the morning, you will visit a Bahima homestead within the lodge's environs to participate in cultural interaction and learn about the Bahima's beliefs, customs, and traditions. The Bahima are historically known for being pastoralists and have persistently depended on keeping large herds of cattle (long-horned) as a primary source of their livelihood. You will participate in some of their traditional activities, such as milking the cow, making cow ghee, and grazing the cattle, as well as learn their traditional conservation practices.
After completing your visit to the Bahima homestead, you will embark on 4-5 hours’ drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Along the way, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the undulating hills and banana plantations that comprise the rest of the region.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Today, you will go on a trekking expedition in the hilly and dense Bwindi Forest in search of the mountain gorillas. After an early breakfast, you will head to the park’s gathering center, where experienced rangers will issue guidelines and any relevant information about gorilla tracking. The briefing exercise begins at 8:00 a.m. and lasts about 30 minutes.
After briefing, you will enter the forest in search of the mountain gorillas. While trekking through the steep and rugged terrain of the forest, you may encounter other wildlife creatures such as birds, monkeys, bush elephants, and colorful butterflies. Once you locate the habituated gorilla family, you will have an hour to observe their interactions, behavior, and social dynamics. Standing 7 meters from these gentle giants, you will enjoy taking photos of the unforgettable moments of a lifetime.
Following your incredible encounter with the mountain gorillas, you will spend a relaxing afternoon and evening at the lodge.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
After breakfast, you will leave Uganda and travel for about 2 hours to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda’s Northern Province. Upon arrival, you will participate in a cultural experience at the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, which is located in Kinigi close to the Volcanoes National Park.
